i dont know much about the 870 but everyone i hunt with including me and my dad have the mossberg 500, we all love them. none of us as ever had a problem.

i use a 12 3 1/2 buckshot for hunting and that kicks alot but the biggest rifle is a 300 ultra mag. you can feel the percussion when you shoot it it feels like a blast of wind

that is the same as in new jersey except we have all house goin up around our hunting spots. you wont see one deer while hunting but once you get by the houses they are everywhere.
