I think you may have missed my point, you can use ANY cartridge and caliber you like. Just download until the recoil fits you.
You can load 30-06 to shoot like .22mags and squirrel hunt with it.

I realize that the RM Elk is closer related to the Eastern elk than red stag, but the eastern elk was somewhat amaller than the RM elk.
