RE: Zwickey's anyone?

Very few Trad broadheads are sharp out of the packet. You'll have the pleasure of putting an edge on them- but what an edge it'll be!

Zwickeys are great heads.

RE: Instinctive Archery Insights.....

I got my copy on Monday, still haven't had the time to read it in detail, but I've found Jay's insights very useful.

Recommended reading for instinctive archers.

RE: Bad idea to shoot diff. Trad Bows

A friend of mine can switch between bows almost at will- he's simply a fantastic archer.

It takes me a few dozen arrows to settle after switching bows, but as a rule I don't struggle too much....

Congratulations Chad!

Just so you know, the Attila and Falcon arrived this morning. Someone at Parcelfarce goofed up though- they never charged me import duty! That's the kind of screwup I can...

RE: New Bow

The arrows will come off the bow tail right ( for a RH archer)- this fishtailing will rob your arrow of energy and will have a detrimental effect on accuracy.

Easton's website recommend either...

Adding weight to your field points

Right, further to my last post, my shooting is improving. I was pushing myself too hard, and I was shooting too fast. This isn't Agincourt, so there's really no point in shooting three arrows in 30...

RE: New Bow

2117's will be WAAAAY too stiff from your bow. I'd go with 1816's with 100 grain points.

As a bit of a bonus you can get them in Easton's Jazz series of shafts, which are a good bit cheaper...

RE: Target

Foam blocks work well for broadheads, as do hay bales. Alfalfa's the best!
Bales will blunt your heads double quick, so keep that in mind.

Oh, and hay's biodegradable- but don't feed it to...

RE: fledgling archer needs help

Right, LP, it sounds like you might have plastic fletches on those shafts. If you can't rotate the nocks you'll either have to replace the nocks or the fletches. If you refletch get some feathers on...

RE: First Traditional Bow

You couldn't have picked a better bow (or a nicer bloke to buy it from!).
2117 might be a bit stiff, though. I draw 27", and 2016's with 125gn points are very slightly stiff for me, but shooting...

RE: Dieing Feathers

Veniards fly tying dyes have good fluorescent colours- try your local flyshop.

Rit/ Dylon et al do a good job too- use the cold water dye, and just follow the instructions on the packet.

RE: Need a heavy arrow for hunting...advice

Alrighty,

The selection of an arrow depends on a number of variables.

Draw weight.

Spine of the shaft.

Draw length.

RE: What size shafts for 40# recurve?

Well, they are XX75's- they should be pretty tough. With alu. shafts the wall thickness plays a big role in determining durablility. 2013's and 1916's spine about the same, but 6 1916's will last me...
