Just returned from North East KS and, South East KS. Quail were down despite the report issued by the KDFW. Hunted 2 days in Marysville area then moved to Emporia. Dry in both areas. Birds were few...

From my understanding through out the years, quail are mature at 12 weeks of age.

There are many opinions of releasing pen raised birds and when to do it. Death rates will be high at any age....

I prefer an auto to the O/U. If properly maintained, jams are not an issue. Usually auto's are less expensive to buy than the O/U. I have both. Seems I enjoy the hunt more if I am not having to...
