RE: Hog Hunting in Arkansas

It's just outside of a town called Natural Dam. I'll have to ask my father-in-law for the contact info.

RE: Hog Hunting in Arkansas

It was a high fence ranch, just over 150 acres inside, if I recall correctly.

That was another interesting part of the hunt. The place used to be a whitetail ranch, but the state of Arkansas...

Hog Hunting in Arkansas

Been back about a month already, but meant to get to this sooner.

We left on Friday afternoon, drove about 5 hours down to Natural Dam Arkansas. Got to the farm at about 7 friday night. Had...

RE: "I only hunt for the meat"?

Exactly. I hunt because I enjoy hunting. I love the feel of my heart when a deer walks within 10 yards of my stand and doesn't even notice me. I love the feel of searching through the woods looking...

RE: For those that have had treestands stolen

That's why you don't actually put a camera out there. Makes em nervous.

Fortunately I've had pretty good luck with this, haven't had one stolen yet (Knock on wood), but if does become a problem...

RE: Who is your hunting buddy??

I've got three, and we can any of us go alone or with any of the others. My wife, my brother-in-law and father-in-law. Me and the father-in-law get to go most, but the wife goes every weekend at...

RE: Morning Or Evening

The scent guys. You know who you are.

Anyway, question for you morning guys, how long do you usually stay out? Sunrise here is around 7:00am now, couple hours? More?

RE: Morning Or Evening

I really like evening, but only because I HATE waking up at 5 in the morning, that and I'm not supposed to take coffee in a stand. If I can't have my coffee I ain't goin.

RE: I just couldn't do it.....

Well, I'll be the bad guy I guess. Rut is going to be starting in two weeks, give or take. At that time momma will be literally kicking the fawns away from her. I would have taken the shot.

RE: What to do?

First of all it's in your rights to ban him from the land. I think calling him a poacher is a bit extreme, however.

It is possible that he just thought he had automatic rights since he has...

RE: I wussed out

I can only hope the salesman said something, but I know it's not likely. My father-in-law owns an archery shop and I know from witnessing that he won't hesitate to tell someone they are an ass for...

RE: Am I the only one who thinks like this?

I can't say I think about it all day, but I do think about it every night on the way home. I drive about an hour to and from work each day, through some of the most beautiful woods around. I see...

RE: Wednesday's question

Here in Missouri it's a half hour before and after too. I'd say I probably leave the stand a little early though, as I usually call it a night when I can't see the sights glowing anymore, or when I...

RE: Need Some Help

Yep, if you've moved it all the way to the right and you're still hitting right, you're going to have to put a spacer on the sight. A couple of washers would work but I'd go to the archery shop tell...

RE: Ghillie Suits

I've been working on mine for the last couple weeks. Been a little warm to wear but will be needing it soon. I definitely like the cover you get from a ghillie better than just regular camo.

RE: down to 4 arrows.

Yep, the 5 spot targets are ideal when you get that good. I haven't had a robin hood yet, but I've clipped the fletchings off a few times.

RE: Hang bow or keep in hand?

It hangs on a branch I cut off just to my right. Easy to get to, arrow can stay nocked. Although I usually do pick it up and hold it for the last hour or so.

Smells, Scents, Scentcover, yada yada yada

Last Saturday night I went up in my stand. It was a hot day so I got pretty sweaty on the way in. I climbed up in my stand at around 4:00pm. I had sat there for approximately two hours, smoking...

I've found that alot of pro shops will tell you that about almost anything they don't carry. Take it with a grain of salt. If they work for you they work.

Our first two weeks here in Missouri were just too warm. Up in the 80's during the day, just a little too hot to get them moving while the sun is still out. This weekend looks to be about perfect. ...

34 here, wish I was 23. Gray hair sucks. Certainly don't wish I was 18 again though, unless I get to keep the brains I got now.
