RE: Mounting sling swivels on plastic stock?

Thanks Gorse...yeah, I saw that rib when I removed the butt pad...was just still concerned it wouldn't be tough enough to hold. So that rib is solid then? I was concerned that it might be hollow...

I’ve got a Rem 870 Express with the Mossy Oak Plastic (plastic-like?) stock and forearm. I’d like to put a traditional sling on it, complete with the quick-disconnect sling swivels. This is...

Rifled choke

Are rifled chokes for shotguns & slugs effective? Seems like the choke area is too short to be of any real good. Does it have any positive effect on a slugs flight? No effect? Negative effect? ...

RE: Which choke for slugs?

Thanks folks, appreciate the info. Wholeheartedly agree on the rifled barrel and while that's in the plan, weekend-after-next I'm going on a hog hunt in a area where it's shotgun/slug only. Won't...

Lee Reloading kit

I'd like to get into reloading...but on a budget. I've been looking at the Lee Aniversary Kit...seems to come with everything you need except dies. I don't plan on reloading a lot...mostly just to...

RE: VA Hunters: I'm going to Cumberland SF tomorrow

ButchA,
Small world...I was raised in Buckingham County and hunted in the Cumberland SF often...25 years ago anyway. Always had pretty good luck there. At the time they didn't allow dogs...

RE: Busted by a bear!!!

Yes, I did have a cup of coffee, but then brushed my teath, and used a couple of the Listerene strips before getting to the stand. What should I be doing? I know the mouth is a major source of odor...

RE: Busted by a bear!!!

No, I'm all but positive he didn't see me...he never once looked up...but he was defiantely sniffing. I was perfectly still so movement was not an issue. And I was a good 20 feet up the tree with...

How do you stand in your treestand?

So how do most of you actually stand in your treestand? With your back to the tree looking out, or facing the tree and looking around it. I see some real merit to facing the tree, breaking up your...

RE: Pins for what distance?

zrexpilot,
That's an interesting thought...having the pins too bunched up together. I can see that being a bit of a problem. I'll see how close they are at 20 and 25 and make an initial...
