RE: Hogs in Va

You probably mean Ft. Chiswell. I would not waste my time and energy trying to find them anywhere in VA because they are very scarce.

RE: tips for getting into trapping

Rifleman, if there are so many bobcats and coyotes you can target them instead! Sometimes it is not about the money, but rather the experience gained!

RE: "Growing The Racks Bigger"

If you want bigger racks then mineral supplements ain't gonna cut it! Do as someone else suggested and plant some food plots and let the small bucks walk. Age and nutrition are the only ways to get...

RE: Coyotes in thick cover

I see that you must like hunting turkeys, so try some of those same tactics on the yotes! And, always keep an eye on the downwind side.

RE: GINSENG

I heard that it was going for over $800 here in VA! I may just have to get out next year and try to dig some if we don't have another drought year.

RE: Need help planning ahead!!

I second the cover idea! If your neighbor has the groceries all you need is the cover for them to bed and move through.

RE: Stands per Acre

One thing to keep in mind is the entrance and exit routes. If you are spooking deer entering and/or exiting the stands you will definitely ruin the area regardless of the number of stands or hunters!

RE: Public land, help?

I hunt the terrain and let other hunters push the deer to me on public property. Those deer are really spooky to begin with.

RE: OPTIMA ELITE OR PRO ACCURACY

I really like my "regular" optima. It normally shoots about a 1.5" to 2" group at 100 yards. Good enough for me cause I don't intend to shoot past 125 with it.

RE: hole/depression on property, how do I make it a water hole?

I would not trust a plastic liner to last very long. The deer and other animals would likely puncture it with their feet.

One way to remedy blisters is to put on a pair of lightweight nylon socks before you put on your regular socks. It keeps the friction from rubbing blisters on your feet.
