.243 will absolutely work fine for deer and has a mild recoil. The problem noone has mentioned yet is that if the stock of the rifle fits you the length of pull will likely be way too long for a 9 yr...

If they hunt and its legal then fine. If its illegal then by definition it's unethical.

Well because of my work schedule I only get avery few precious days of hunting every year. Last year I had every hunt ruined by dogs. Every single one. But those hunters were not breaking the law....

I have a cabelas Hawken,,I like it a lot. It shoots well with 80gr of Pyro RS and a patched round ball. It is a bit heavy compared to my inline knight. but not so heavy as other rifles i've carried....

you can get the heat pack here at walmart for like 2 dollars for a six pack, and they sell an insole for boots and shoes with a special pocket for the heaters. those are like 10...

Hey Rick I shoot the EXACT same gun and same load all but the Patch. I use a .015 pre-lubed patch from TC . I have real good accuracy from that load.

You can do it yourself easily. Make sure you have a screwdriver with a brass tip or a head that fits exactly into the slot on the screws. Put some locktite on the threads and screw the bases down....

if you got that kind of money to spend get yourself a Leupold or Nikon. They both have really good warranties and are superior optically to simmons and bushnell.

If you were just taking your weapon, a knife, and one other piece of gear to the woods what would that be? For me I think it would be 50ft of 550 cord. its almost as versatile as Duct Tape.

I think that you should maybe ask yourself how far you feel confident shooting that rifle. Is a bit of a different question but far more important. I limit my shots from my inline to 100 yds or less...
