Drifty......I honestly can't remember what type mauser it was...I do know it didn't have a steel buttplate, because I've never owned a rifle with a steel buttplate, as I recall it was black plastic,...

When you say larger, it sortof makes me ask:"larger than what?" as far as a rifle that can easily take down a whitetail, or a mule deer...I would have to say 30-06. It is an excellent all-around...

I saw a RRA in a pawn shop the other day..I picked it up and checked it out, it had allot of scratches on it, a bipod set-up, and a halo sighting system on it...he was asking more than I wanted to...

Thanks for the info so-far....I was already leaning towards the bushmaster, and am now leaning further towards it...I've fired the colt before(it was a 16" preban) I must say it wasn't a bad...

I Used to have two Chinese made SKS's...both were surprisingly accurate inside of 100 Yds...the ballistics of the 7.62 round didn't fare too well beyond the 300 yd range as I recall, but it hit...
