Skeeter - I guess it was because when I was talking to the guy at the gun counter today he really didn't think the TSX was that good. He said as soon as you hit bone the petals will often break off....

A 7mm is an excellent choice. I have shot bull elk at the ranges you have suggested, even a little farther, and have had fantastic success with my 7mm. The 7mm is also very good for lighter game...

Because you mentioned grizzly bear, I would go with the .338. If you already owned a 300WM or a 300 WSM, you would still be fine, but because you are in the fun positin of deciding and shopping...

I would have recommended the 7mm or 300 win mag as a good all around rifle, but since you threw Alaska into the mix, I would have to recommend the 338 Win Mag.

For a flat shooting gun, with the big power your looking for and fairly light recoil, you can't beat the 7mm Rem Mag. For me, the last two years in a row, 2 bucks, 400 yard shots, 7mm did the trick....

The .270 and 30-06 are great, but since you mentioned 300-400 yard shots I would suggest the 7mm. If your budget allows it, a Sako would make a nice long lasting high quality rifle. Good Luck.
