RE: Longbows vs. Recurves

I prefer a longbow. Country is thick here, very thick but I get around. Don't know about tree stands as i prefer my feet on the ground. Haven't weighed it but if my 68 inch long bow weighs 2 pounds i...

RE: Help!! 36" arrow shafts

Chimo, I shoot hardwood dowels all the time. Ramin. I use self nocks and put a 1/8" pin across the dowell just below the self nock. Glue it in with titebond. Ramin is very tuff and easy to work. I...

RE: Thinking of Getting into Traditional Bows Please help

I am no arrow guru but I have 2 aluminum arrows I shoot from a 55 pound bow and they are 2016's and fly extremly well. I have read that Easton's spine chart tends to be on the stiff side.

RE: Opinions of Byron Fergerson (sp) book?

I think terminology leads to a lot of the confusion. No way in the world Brian and Howard and Ron Leclair could shoot them little targets out of the air with a concious aiming system.

RE: bow weight

Up here in BC it is legal to hunt everything with a 40 pound at your drawlength bow. Grizzly Bears, Moose, Caribou etc. Except Bison. You have to have a 50 pound at your drawlength bow.

Sharp...

RE: I wanna go trad too...but where do I start??

Hey Bard, Oregon has more bow shooters per square foot than anywhere. :) You should be able to hook up with someone pretty easy. I am with LBR, stay with a longish bow. And welcome to trad.

Sounds good Vic.

Right now my favourite bow is my Wesley Special (man I like this bow) followed by my Martin bushmaster which would be a keeper if it were 2 inches longer.

RE: Brace Height

c903, what does over-flexing do to the bow?

When I build a self bow I start by BH so my feathers just clear the riser. Usually about 6 - 61/2 inches.

RE: Brace Height

Yup I play with my brace height. Like to have the bow as quiet as I can at as low a brace as possible.

I am unsure why bowyers have a minimum brace height recommendation.
