RE: 7.62 = .308??

I used to shoot the .311 cal. stuff in my mini 30 and it never complained. It never shot well with any ammo so I got rid of it. My mak 90 always shot better than my mini 30.

RE: Keyholing??

Yep looks like they are wobbling or maybe even tumling. with that twist 1800fps isn't fast enough, i would guess. If your cast is hard enough I'd try boosting them up to around 2100fps. If it works...

I give that one a 10 for cool looking. If it shoots as good as it looks.........then I want one. My McMillan will have to ride in the back seat.

RE: 30-06sprg 125gr.

I've killed a dozen or so deer with 100gr 6mm so the 125gr 30-06 is not to light for deer. I load 130 gr in 30-06 and 300 win mag. They shoot quite nice and work on deer just fine.

RE: When is it "good enough?"

Well for me accuracy is part of this hobbie we have. I am alway trying to get better groups. I have many hunting rifles grouping near 1/2" but will accept 1". I have a rem 597 set up with the same...

RE: best western states all-around cartridge

It makes a difference if you reload. I've found my .300 win mag to be the most all around gun. I have a 130gr load up to a 220gr load. I can do the same with the 30-06 but with less velocity but I...

RE: What rifle cartridge destroys the most meet on deer?

Now many folks don't think this is a good idea but my buddies and I shoot deer in the head. We shoot ground hogs all summer at 200 to 300yds with the same rifle we hunt deer with. I make sure I have...

RE: What trigger pull do you like for a hunting rifle.

I try very hard to make all my rifles pull 3# with minimal creep. Even my rem 597 has the same pull and feel. That way no matter what I shoot I'm used to the trigger pull. So far I've been able to do...

RE: Barrel length and velocity

The .243 can't use the 26" barrel to it's advantage. There is not enough powder in the small case to need 26" even my 30-06 dosen't need the 26" probably 24" is about all it needs. The .243 works...

RE: 7.62x39 cal. Question

I still think the 7.62x39 is good out to 200yds. The rem 125 gr has 881 ft/lbs at 200yds and I think the 357 mag is only about 550 at 100. If a 357 mag will kill deer out to 100yds then the 7.62x39...

RE: Mag primers in a 44 Mag?

Well I count the mag primers as 2gr of H110. I will say this. that the h110 doesn't ignight as well on regular primers. I say this only because I have noticed a better accuracy with the mag. primmers.
