My average is about 15 yards. That is where I like them (15-20). I don't like shots much closer than that because of shot angle. I have killed them as close as 7 yards before though.

Thanks for your advice. I know they are for head shots but I haven't ever shot a turkey with a bow and was just wondering how tough they are. I'll stick with the head shots.

I shoot a pin at 25 and one at 40. At 30 I aim about 2 in high and at 35 I aim directly between the pins. I like this setup for hunting because it is simpler then using alot of pins.

Generally if they are roosting half way up a hill they will fly down to the uphill side of their tree. That way it is a shorter distance than downhill and they can just glide off the roost.

When I have all day I go in before sun up and hunt the first 2 or 3 hours. I'll usually take a break and I'll go back in around 10:30 and hunt until about 3. I kill most of my birds in the midday.
