RE: no more leeches

I think right on the box it says leeches are only supposed to last for about 1000 shots. They are pretty cheap to replace to. I have easily put 2000 shots through mine and haven't had any problems...

RE: detachable quiver on or off

I have a kwikee kwiver that locks down tightly onto my Mathews so it doesn't make any sound. I also have limbsavers on it to dampen the noise. The quiver's weight does affect the bow's accuracy...

RE: Home maid target, ever try this?

I have made a target like that and it stops arrows very well except the target is extremely heavy because you really have to pack the papers to keep the arrow from going too far in. I may have used...

RE: Share your first buck kill stories!!!

I got my first deer in 1997 when I was 12. It was my first day hunting ever and it was the Michigan bow opener on October 1st. I had been in the woods for about 50 minutes and it was just after 6 pm,...

RE: Optimal ke/trajectory question

It is a difficult concept to understand and I tried to simplify it as much as I could and tried to avoid the details. I have taken a few years of physics and different kinds of calculus in my short...

RE: Optimal ke/trajectory question

KE is the mass of the arrow times the velocity squared, this causes kinetic energy to depend more on the speed for a higher value.
Momentum, on the other hand is the mass times the velocity....

RE: Double lungs, heart, or heart and double lungs?

I agree heartily with dick cress in that the easier shot is the double lung shot and is just as deadly. When I was 12 I shot my first deer with a 38 # draw weight. It went through both lungs and the...

RE: 25 Years - Time to Quit

I don't have any problems with pain, but if you want to get rid of the compound, a couple of traditional guys I know shoot Martin and Black Widow traditional bows and they say they are great....

I started with magnus 125s went to Thunderhead 125s and now shoot First Cut 125s.

RE: Double lungs, heart, or heart and double lungs?

I go with the double lung because there is a greater room for error in range estimation. If you miss low on the heart there isn't much and I personally think the safer shot is a double lung shot and...

RE: Totally new to sport. Need advice of any kind.

No it doesn't really matter at all just make sure your bow fits you well. What is your specific complaint with the sight. I have always shot Tru-Glo and although they are sometimes fairly difficult...

RE: HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHAT GRAIN OF BROAD HEAD TO USE.

I agree with straightarrow if you have a broadhead on the tip it helps a lot to put some drag on the back end to stabilize the arrow. I shot with regular plastic fletching then switched to synthetic...

RE: Axle to axle length, brace height, and cams

Are there any serious cons to going with a short bow? I seem to recall that they are not as forgiving as a long one, but I may be way off.

RE: HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHAT GRAIN OF BROAD HEAD TO USE.

there are charts out there for selecting broadheads, but it also depends on your fletching and fps, going to a pro shop that really knows what they are doing is probably the best way to do it. Make...

RE: Bow Quiver suggestions

I would go with a Kwikee 3 arrow quiver. They are well built and don't rattle and securely hold broadheads and heavy hunting arrows, just make sure you get the right size holder depending on whether...

RE: Axle to axle length, brace height, and cams

RE: Axle to axle length, brace height, and cams

My draw length is 32", I shoot around 60 lbs. with a Tru-Fire caliper release on a string loop behind the nock. I do not use an overdraw and shoot fairly heavy carbon arrows with right helical...

RE: whats the shooting difference between straight off set or rh helical?

I would definitely go with helical because of the accuracy. I also use synthetic feathers to improve broadhead forgiveness.

RE: Axle to axle length, brace height, and cams

I have been shooting for 12 years so I am not looking for a beginners bow. A bow in the 40s seems a little long, even for a 6'2" guy like me. I am looking for about a midsized bow, not a really short...

I always hunt in light rain or snow because the deer usually move in it. On the other hand, deer are like people in that if it is a thunderstorm or downpour they won't come out. They will just hunker...
