RE: Why did the .260 Remington not take off as a standard caliber?

Maybe because we americans don't like the metric system? even though we call them by their inch names we all know that a .243 is a 6mm, and .280 is 7mm, and .260 is 6.5mm. only somehow the 7mm mag...

RE: Browning 7mm-08

Don't know about the Browning rifle (never fired one) but I love the 7-08 cartridge. Nice soft recoil, good ballistics, only about 200fps behind the 7mm mag.

Good luck

RE: Rifle newbie that needs some help.....

How about an NEF Handi-Rifle? You can get them for around $200 and then have some $$ left over for a scope. I know that they come in .223 and .243, and maybe .22-250. If all you wanted was a...

RE: cheaper to reload

The .243 should be a little cheaper to reload then the .308 or .30-06, less powder, slightly less $ for bullets.

RE: how is that possible?

In Michigan certain counties sell over the counter doe tags, and you can buy one per county per day. And they go on sale well before season. I don't think I would be shooting 80 deer though..

RE: low hunting calibers?

I'd say go with .260rem or 7mm-08, both nice light recoiling cartridges. You can get a NEF handi-rifle single shot for around $200 (I have 2), they are nice little guns. I agree that the 30-30 is...
