the deer wont know the differnce thats for sure, but if your scope fogs or clouds then it wont matter where the crosshairs are and what they're pointed at, because u wont be able to see them anyway...

i currently use a 308 on deer but wouldn't mind having a 243 or 25-06. these would be my ideal calibres for deer however if i was to move to bigger game i would stick with the 308.

jus go with your personal preference. the 308 will kill less than the 30-06, but then mabey you want more power, but then mabey the 308 comes up better or feels better, i wouldn' t know jus go with...
