One down for the Rut Junkies!

Well today is the opening day of Archery Turkey season here in KS. I wasnt going to miss it for anything and sure glad I didnt! I took my girlfriend Ashlee, who has never been turkey hunting before....

I would not hunt in the middle of the thick stuff. The way it sounds these could be sanctuary areas and you dont want to disturb them. Hunt the edges where it seems deer enter and leave. It sounds...

That is pretty weird? Have you looked into any info. on "rage syndrome"? A dog will act out and get very angry for several seconds and then right afterwards won't really know what happened.

Taking the chance of bumping a deer is the major risk, if you see the deer die then I wouldnt wait too long. A liver shot depends on where and how much of the liver is cut as to how lethal the shot...

If the fawn is a button buck then I would not shoot either one. If the fawn is a female then I would opt to take her first and then the mother so I know if she got away she would likely survive.

Its sounds like you've got it figured out! There are a lot of Oaks out there but it is definitley a type of Red Oak. The deeply lobed leavesand pointed tips give that away.
