i have used it on whitetail in the past i think i was using 165g. hornady sst. as for overkill i don`t think it will make them any deader than a .243 will it will all depend on how far your shots are...

ok be it there is only one hole in it but i swear that my m-77 in .243 will shoot inch at 100 yards with win. slivertips in 95 grain all day.
