RE: WATER Question for an ELK CAMP

You can get a pretty decent water filter for around $50 that isn' t a chemical treatment that filters out all of the bad guys and with the charcoal filter makes the nastiest water even taste good....

RE: Hunters, anyone almost get shot while hunting?

I forgot something, is everyone here paranoid? Gimme a break. Anyone could make up better stories than we are sharing here. I think the benefit of sharing some of these stories is more important than...

RE: Hunters, anyone almost get shot while hunting?

I' ve had two idiot hunter encounters. The first was on a mule deer hunt in about 1984 in central Utah. I was almost skylined on a ridge and suddenly I hear what I thought was someone above me...

RE: What is one thing you hate about hunting shows & magazines?

I for one, like to watch the hunts I can' t afford. I mean, a public land mule deer hunt in Utah would be like a reality show. Who wants to see that? But a cape buffalo hunt? I' ll probably never do...

RE: What would you like to see on outdoor TV shows?

How about this. A Colorado or Utah Lion hunt with cameras mounted to the dogs? It may make you sick with the bouncing around but there is no way a cameraman will keep up with a couple of Lion hounds....

RE: What would you like to see in outdoor TV shows?

I' d like to see a little more nuts and bolts. Stay on task too. I hate the gold panning and truck and 4 wheeler tests but would like to see some gun/scope/bow tests and technical stuff like...

RE: I need help with a prank

Rock salt loads are effective (but probably not lethal) at under about 15 yards but very uneffective at any distance beyond. As a kid we experimented to the point of probably killing ourselves a many...

RE: Inline Muzzle Loaders?

I don' t understand why this is even an argument. I' ve shot both and don' t see any real advantage in either you still have to load them from the front, one shot at a time. I do like the stocks...

RE: Good 22. rifles

Aside from cleaning and replacing the front sight I' ve shot a zillion trouble free shots through my 10/22 in the last 25 years.
Personally I hate the tube magazines, I like being able to pop out...

I' m a big fan of Louis L' Amour partially because he has a very good knowledge of his subject matter and a command of the language they used, partly because he lived the life of many of his...

RE: .30-06 Elk Load

No I' m on the low cost plan. $30.25 for a resident. And since I like meat better than racks I' m hunting cows this year. I' m saving up preference points to go on a trophy hunt sometime next decade.

RE: Barnes bullets, WOW!

So for Elk would you go with the 180 gr. or the 165? I read somewhere that the 165 x performs like a 180 in another brand. I' ve always used 180 gr. Hornadys for elk and 165' s for deer but I' m...

RE: Primitive weapons..Or are they?

One thing missing in this thread is the effectiveness of any of these " primitive" weapons at taking more game. Do people really kill more animals just because they have an in-line vs. a sidelock?...

RE: Primitive weapons..Or are they?

Colorado also doesn' t allow Pyrodex. And up until 2 years ago didn' t allow in-lines. Which brings up a question, what is the advantage of an in-line? BareBackJack says we ought not allow them. But...

RE: Which One(s) Would You Trade Off?

I' d keep all of them and get a part time job to buy whatever else I wanted. Guns are like cash. You can always get rid of them in a pinch and if you aren' t in a pinch don' t sell them. (Although I...

RE: Rem. 870 Express youth model?

RE: Is it good to...???

RE: Wife bought me a Glock 21! Backup deer gun?
