RE: Which caliber is responsible for the most wounded deer?

Im my opinion, it is not the caliber, but the shooter. Alot of guys have said the 30-30 is the most responsible, that may be true, but as I see it a .375 H&H wouldn't kill a deer if you shot it in...

RE: the best caliber

RE: Changed the stock on my Model 70...Question

Make sure the reciever is fitted snuggly down properly. It may be "Lifting" in the front end. If it's not in there all the way, for whatever reason, you may crack the stock when you fire it.

RE: whats the difference between .308 and a 7.62mm X 39mm, or are they the same?

By the way, 7.62 does not designate 7mm anything. Just to further confuse things from what nomercy said, your above mentioned rounds use a .308-.311 dia. bullet. Your 7mm's are .284 in dia.

RE: whats the difference between .308 and a 7.62mm X 39mm, or are they the same?

yeah, I think the designation for the metric discription is 7.62x54. The 7.62x39 is your average AK round.

The .308 will work fine. Shoot military surplus ammo. It's Full Metal Jackets, so they should do minimal damage to the pelt.
