RE: Maryland Public Land

I can put you on some Savage River spots I took birds from each yearI hunted MD.
I only ever seen one hunter in the area and I'd give him his choice each morning and head on foot another way.

Sent a big stack of mine to the troops in Iraq.
If you don't get any bids, they surely do appreciate it.

RE: Maryland turkeys

I hunt the Savage River SF and it has loads of birds and I've only run into one other hunter per year.
Usually the first week of PA's season I have SR all to myself.
Great turkey hunting there.

RE: I just had to post

Hope this doesn't become common among turkey hunters.
Deer hunting has become instant judging about who is better than who,is it legal and jealousy ,hope it doesn't spill over into the spring.

No such thing as a guaranteed longbeard but would pay that for the chance.

RE: How many hunters is is all right to lose?

Really 80% could be lost as 20% harvest 80% of the deer but themoney lost would be too much.
10-15% is probably what could be afforded.

RE: Mistakes

One certain in turkey hunting is that mistakes will never go away no matter how long you hunt.

Every turkey hunter I know screws up each year.

Mistakes only make your set-up better next...

QDM on that small a piece of land is worthless unless all bordering properties practice it strictly.

RE: Busting toms out of their strut zone

The few I took after spooking earlier in the season was tough when you heard birds elsewhere.
You wanna leave and go after the gobbling birds but if you know he likes the area,it is worth staying.

RE: Primos Gobbler shaker

First gobbler this year came mid-day to a gobbler shaker.
A hen led him right to me minutes after calling.
I heard him spitting and drumming before I saw him.

RE: A little Tip that may help on a setup

Good advice
The cover may also keep you out of the sun.
Movement in direct sunlight is hard to miss for a hunter, turkeys will see it even better.
