RE: 270 load for moose

I'd use the 130-grain Barnes TTSX bullet in your 270 Win. I'm buying a 270 WSM for the wife this year to use for moose and caribou hunting and the above mentioned bullet is what I'll be reloading for...

RE: Alaska Moose Unit 20D any info?

Rimrock,

You can hunt black bear as a non-resident without a guide. Get a tag and hunt as well.

tangozulu,

Probably best to try and save a little face and stop while you're ahead. I won't argue with you on this subject since you don't really (and honestly) know d!ck on what Alaska does up...

RE: Bears and therma cell

It doesn't affect the bears at all. Last spring, I had plenty of browns and black bears in my bait station and the therma cell was on the entire time.

RE: What caliber for moose, elk, bear, deer

The 270 Win (or any flavor) is not small for moose. Lots of moose tip over to this cartridge every year up here in Alaska.

I'd get the 300 WSM or 30-06.

RE: Is a .243 a good deer gun?

If you know how to shoot, the 243 is more than enough for deer. I'm taking my 243 WSSM loaded with 85-grain TSX bullets to go chase some deer on an island that has been known to take a few 10' brown...

RE: Electronic predator calls

It all depends on what you want to spend. I'd recommend the Foxpro FX3. I love mine and I don't think I'll ever upgrade it. However, that's also gonna take $500 out of your wallet, too.

RE: best short action round

I'd get the 300 WSM. One of the most popular cartridges on the market today. Not only is it a very hot seller, but in the field it has the performance to back it up as well.

RE: winchester model 70 w/scope

I bet more rifles were sold last year that were chambered in 300 WSM than any other rifle chambered in the rest of the .300 class (300 WBY, 300 WIN, 300 ULTRA, etc).

RE: .270 Win & .270 WSM what is the difference??

I guess that depends on what size game you plan on limiting yourself to. For me, a premium bullet placed in the proper spot, is more important than the cartridge in question. 270 WSM + Barnes TSX =...
