With elk you want two holes for tracking purposes, unless you get REALLY lucky and they don't go anywhere.

The bullet you are describing is the Nosler Partition. You should probably go with the 180gr.
Front section expands violently for maximum expansion and the rear section holds together...

Flat trajectory, 100 wt retention for maximum penetration, yet bullet will not blow up if you are lucky...
