Find a place to pick it up. Around here, it is no big deal to buy abox of 45 ACP, shoot it and then sweep the entire floor into a bag. No one cares that much and indoor ranges are 99% once fired.

I agree:) It is because the bore, recoil force line is above the support, shoulder or rest contact point on the stock. This causes the upward recoil.

Long story short. . .I think thoroughly cleaning the shellplate has fixed the sizing damaging the case. . .I hope.

The die being damaged is traced to a weak spindle design IMO and me not doing...

At 9, I would say a 4x fixed is a best choice. I would look at Simmons, Weaver or Sightron.. .or maybe a red dot might be best. Red dot sights make eye relief less of a struggle which my girls have...
