Hunting guns get banged around a lot more than hunters will admit to. The lightest I will go on trigger weight is about #3 but on the other hand I don't want more than #5 as long as it's smooth.

Many of shotguns have a round limit stick in the magazine tube in the middle of the spring. If it gets jammed in the coils of the spring it will cause the problem you describe.
