RE: Decided to give it up

Hey!! Dont give up dude! It's not to hard, where you live? Maybe try a guide. A good one will teach ya how its done pretty good, and if not, just watch and see what he does. If nothing else, try...

RE: 20 ga under 6 lbs?

I have a small break action 20. Real pretty, real light, shoots like a beast (I've dropped geese with it). I dont care what people say bout single shots. You can have two shots off per flock if...

RE: Elk Hunting Advice: Your Do's and Don'ts

I'm not an elk hunter yet, but DONT shoot unless you are confident in a kill shot. I know a game warden, and am good friends with him. He showed me in his garage about 70-100 elk racks, at least. ...

RE: A tip

SO youre telling me if you got ducks low, coming in on your spread, 50 yards away, you arent going to try and get your gun up before they are over you? I cant even see the logic of calling them. ...

RE: calling a disadvantage?

Definitely lay off the calls for wary puddlers. Just hope that they come in on your dekes, or find a pond they already frequent.

Merry Christmas to all and God Bless

A tip

Quit calling if the ducks are coming at you with wings set. It will only spook them. I was out on bass lake and missed a shot at 4 different flocks because some dummy started calling as soon as he...

RE: another goose questions

Don't use anything larger then 1 shot on a full choke, you'll blow it out. I dont really like T much, not much of a spread. I'd suggest 1 or 2 shot. If you have 3 1/2 shells, I'd use 4 shot for...

RE: Doves in WA?

Well I'd suggest my place.

Three or four years ago we gave my neighbors some doves for their new little bird pen thingy... Well long story short that thing had a hole I guess. We have about 6...

RE: The spread, does it matter? (poll)

I'd suggest The Complete Hunter: Duck Hunting. It's in The Hunting and Fishing Library by Cowles Creative Publishing, Inc.

it has EVERYTHING you need to know about decoys as well as many other...

RE: guns

I've taken geese with a .410... anyone who says a shotgun is not good enough for a goose or duck doesnt know his business. I often take my full choke, single shot 20 gauge out if i am jumping ponds...

What size spreads do you guys typically use? What size shot? How long are the shots usually? Sorry if I seem insistent, but like i said, I'm pumped for the turkey season this year.

I just gotta...

RE: decoying canadian geese and calling

Yeah canadians need to see lots of black to want to land, unless they're loners.

For better ideas though, you may want to find out where they are going. Hop in the car and follow them. Chances...

RE: Do you shoot ducks on the water??????

If youre going for meat, and its legal, shoot them however you please. Same with any other of your birds. Just make sure you use a slighter lighter load, dont want to blast the hell out of it.

Try for the head. Practice on those head shots, and start thinking about how much lead certain species need. Ex: Mallards need more lead then teal, while teal you really need to follow because...
