rifled slugs in rifled barrels

will shooting a rifled slug in a rifled barrel damage the barrel? I know that they are designed for sabots and wont make a rifled slug more accurate but can i still shoot a rifled slug through it??...

I was wondering how much a shooter really gains by using a rifled slug barrel shooting sabots, some guys say that it increases your range up to 125- 150 yards.
