RE: CWD found in WV

From what I hear, they are going to kill 100 deer in hampshire county in the area where they found this one. I sure hope they don't find any other deer with CWD.

Chronic Wasting Disease found in WV Whitetail

Well, that was fast. They found it in NY in the spring. I am in Mon county, so I don't know. This may be my last season deer hunting. I sure will miss it, back to squirrels and turkeys...

The problem I see is game laws get more and more complicated every year. I understand them, but I study the manual and have an advanced college degree. And I bet I still miss things, in fact I know...

Chefs Choice Model 320 recommended!

I just got this from cabelas. It seems to do a nice job fast and is easy to use. I know all YOU need is a $3 sharpening stone. My uncle is like that too but I have never been able to get the hang...

Help, Kroger no longer sells the Jerky spice in the orange box!

I know there are others, maybe you can suggest some. I got some spice from Southern States this year. But my Kroger stopped selling the jerky spice in the orange box this year, it is one of the...

RE: powerbelt bullets ok in handi rifle .50 cal?

Ok, I figure it can't hurt to try them. Honestly whether they work or not I'm going with Barnes once they are used up. Actually if they don't work, I'll go with Barnes sooner. Do you like the new...

powerbelt bullets ok in handi rifle .50 cal?

I have a TC thunderhawk .54 and I use barnes bullets and it works great with tripple 7. Seems like the perfect combo, couldn't be happier. But recently I ordered a .50 cal barrel for my synthetic...

RE: 22 Cal To Shoot Deer

This is what I think is going on. You could shoot certain bullets through that stuff but some would blow up. I think the .22 cal bullets got a bad rap because people were using varmint bullets to...

RE: Looking to get a new rifle

I don't know, the factory barrels are fine and dirt cheap. They have lots of choices. The guns are just a lot of fun. Well balanced, triggers are ok. Accurate enough, cheap reliable. The kind of...

RE: Looking to get a new rifle

Got the .243 today. With the 22 inch barrel, it is nicely balanced. Also, it is about 1 inch longer than my Ruger 10/22. Should be fun. The 25-06 has been a blast.

RE: 22 Cal To Shoot Deer

I bet if Hornady comes out with an SST bonded bullet for .223 it will kill deer. The 117 grain 25-06 thumps them. I just got a .243 and I can't wait to try the 95 grain SST bonded bullets. I can't...

RE: Looking to get a new rifle

I don't much like my .223 superlite barrel. It is so short and light it is hard to settle down for offhand shots. I like a gun to be a little more muzzle heavy.

RE: Looking to get a new rifle

Have a 25-06 synthetic handi. Just bought .243 with 22 inch barrel. I really like the 25-06, but I think the .243 will be a blast, 4 inches shorter. A lot of people don't realize Handis are so...

RE: Question about handi rifle in 25-06

I really like mine a lot, especially the 25-06 barrel. I never thought a $180 gun would cause me to leave my browning A-bolt medallion at home. That's hillarious but the 25-06 kicks less, shoots...

RE: Depleted PA deer populations

WV harvest went down the last couple of years too. Here they blamed a bad acorn crop in 2002 and 2003, fantastic this year. Could that be some of the cause in PA too?

RE: 257 weatherby vs 25-06

Yes, but they are getting the same velocity out of that case as 25-06 even with 120 grain bullets. The .25 WSM would be faster than the weatherby IMO.

RE: 257 weatherby vs 25-06

No, the 25 WSSM is the same length as the 223 WSSM and the 243 WSSM. It is super short mag case, not the short mag case. This makes it shorter even than the 270 WSM or the 300 WSM. It is two sizes...

Or even within 400 yards for the 25-06. It is a legitimate 400 yard gun on deer, sheep, etc. I tend to agree, why make more noise, kick, expense, etc. when there is no need? It is why the .308...

RE: 257 weatherby vs 25-06
