I live in Watertown and from what I heard from the GFP is that pheasants are at a 40 year high. It should be fun shooting this year.

RE: South Dakota winter/ early spring weather

I live in Watertown in the NE corner. I have never seen as many pheasants in the spring as I have this spring. They are everywhere. I would think that given our mild winter and slow warmup this...

RE: 700 classic or Savage

I had a very good friend from work get one of the 700 classics in 7mm-08. I do not know if he got a lemon or if that was the quality of the firearms put out by Remington at that time. First off...

RE: 1911 clones

There is only one name to know in production 1911 pistols and that is Kimber. I have owned a Colt, shot several more Colts and Springfield, but my favorite is the Kimber. I have a Stainless Target....

RE: what is the all around best caliber for whitetail deer hunting?

If you reload, there is nothing better then the .257 Roberts!!! If you do not reload then the 25-06 would be my choice. These 2 calibers are what I would consider the flattest shooting mid range...

RE: SD west river deer hunting

I just looked it up in the hunting handbook. The official rule on radios and cell phones is that they are legal to use when in the field, however you cannot use them if you are in, on, or near a...

RE: .45 die?

Since you said you have a Kimber you are shooting .45ACP ammunition. To answer your question, the .45ACP should be crimped with a taper crimp die. Only revolver loads should be crimped with a roll...

RE: M77 MKII trigger job

OK, you got me interested. What did you do? I just bought an M77 MKII in .257 Roberts and have not shot it yet but the trigger pull is real heavy. I was thinking about getting the Timney trigger...

.257 Roberts loaded with Ramshot

I am just starting to load .257 Roberts. I have used IMR 3031 and 4064 in .308win and do not like the extruded powders. Someone at work mentioned Ramshot Tac and so I tried it. I like the way it...

RE: Explain Bullets

I was at the range one day and a guy came with his latest purchase of a 1891 Mauser Carbine in what he was told was 7mm Mauser. So he proceded to try and get the gun sighted in at 50yards, no luck. ...

.257 Roberts

I currently shoot a 1909 Argintine Mauser chambered in .308win. I have always thought that the .257 Roberts would be a really good all around deer/varmit rifle. What are your comments, both good...

RE: Rebarreled a Savage on my lunch break

I just got my American Rifleman and they have an article on this subject as well. Midway carries a lot of different barrels and if you want to convert from a 30-06 to a 300WSM you will need a new...

RE: trigger for mauser?

I too had a Mauser 1909 with the two stage trigger until I replaced it with a Timney trigger this summer. I am not a gunsmith by any means and I would say that if you have access to a dremel tool,...
