Crossbows are legal during the entire bow season this year (Sept 15 - Jan. 31) and MD does have 2 muzzle seasons. An early one in mid October and a late one after the rifle season.

A trophy is all in the eyes of the beholder. Personally, a nice fat forkie off of public land that I scouted and put my time in hunting would be more of a trophy to me than a big 8 point that I paid...
