The base and rings came with the gun and seem to be right, but could be wrong. They are Leupold.
I put the same scope on my Ruger #1 45-70 and had no issues with elevation. I've got 2 more 444p's...

I'm looking forward to trying the big-bores out. Besides my muzzle loader and 12ga slug gun I've never worried about the drop of the bullet to much. I alway sighted my 270 and 308 at a inch or 2 high...

I broke down and got a really nice crossbow(Scorpyd) last year. It's accurate up to 100 yards and I got a decent buck in Ohio with it at about 20 yards. I would have enjoyed it more with my new 444...

I will definitely practice with the guns once sighted in. The velocity of the two Marlins will be lower because they have shorter barrels(18 1/2).

I like a variable scope to, even have them on my 2 pellet guns.
I've got another 444 coming that's a CVA single shot that will have a Zeiss 3-9-42.
I may go with a Nikon on one of the Marlin...
