Mild Winter in Maine

Winter was easy on the deer herd and the numbers look a lot better than last season. Low winter kill along with little snow for the coyotes to captialize on has given us a good leg up on this coming...

Red.......I agree with you,anytime you push a partition past about 2900fps you would be better served by the A-Frames,Barnes X,Trophy Bonded or Failsafes.I use a 7mm-08 and at the lower velocities...

Thats just it.........the conquests are rather rare still on the used market,they also have an unusual mark-up with most scope sites(Bear Basin/SWFA/D&R/Cabelas)selling them for a fair amount more...

Actually there are two very good reasons............the plastic tips are not prone to ricochet like hollow points,and the performance is erratic with target bullets on the critters with one passing...

I believe the recoil is about equal to the long action magnums myself.The tiny bit you save from slightly less powder is lost with the slightly lighter weight and shorter gun and they both are a wash...
