Small caliber shot placement

Is a .223 too small of a caliber for deer hunting if not what parts do you aim for with a smaller caliber rifle my daughter is shooting a.223 Rossi and I was curious

Difference from ground to treestand

I have a Hoyt charger at about 285 fps how big is the difference between shooting from the ground to out of the tree ?? Can I still use the same pins at the same lengths? 28' draw length 65lbs
