Unless it is an impediment to accuracy, I'm not sure why a tough, rust resistant coating would be considered a negative?
Or maybe I'm just misunderstanding some of the comments?

I'm pretty sure that that type of coating is intended for the segment of the market that dosen't want to have to take great care with their muzzleloader. I'd say that comprises about 90% of the ML...
