Nope. Not a plunger type. It uses a 209 primer with a screw in breech plug. I'm just not sure if the stock breech plug would work with the BH powder, after some of the reading I have done.

My Apex loves 2x50gr. T7 pellets witha 250gr. T/C Shockwave. Just keeps hittin' the bullseye. I'd like to try some other loads.. but if it ain't broke... don't fix it!!

You'll like your Apex when you get to know it. I have one. My first ML, so I have nothing to compare it to - but I love it. It takes a 250gr. shockwave and two T7 pellets, and makes a straight line...

I put the same scope on my Apex. Used a one piece base that I got at Bass Pro. Can't remember the manufacturer though. You'll have to watch the height of the rings though or the bell of the scope...

I shoot 250gr. Shockwaves out of my Apex - 100gr of 777 pellets. Best I have shot is just at a 2" group at 100yd. I'm not complaining!!

I have an Apex 50cal. I love it. Just put a Bushnell 3-9x40 scope on. Shoots very accurately at both 50 and 100 yards. I shoot 250gr. T/C Shockwaves with 100 gr of T7 pellets
