I've heard of does with antlers, but nothing like this. If the deer had no external female sex organs it had to impregnate itself. Where would the fawn come out if carried to term.

my opinion is that most spikes were fawns born later in the year. They go into their first winter alot younger and aren't as thrifty their first year but are quite normal by their second year.

It comes from a whitetail biologist, north american whitetail magazine. I read every article, they do a lot of research. If you want the month and year issue I can find it for you.
