I've talked to people in ne Kansas, and west central Kansas and have good reports from both...........sounds like one of the best years in a while out there.

I think your choice of IC with 71/2 will be fine...............my only advise would be to concentrate on one bird at a time when the covey gets up.

I was out for opening day, and we did very well. Hunted west of Hays, and did the drive/block thing the first 2 days.......then hunted south of Hays for three days, 2-5 of us with a dog. I usually...

My Boykin Spaniel has read all of the posts on this subject, and she thinks you guys take this ' best birddog' stuff way too serious--she just wishes she could hunt some of those exotic birds out...
