My 1st deer was a 6 pt buck shot with a 30-06 WAYYYYY back in the hills far from the truck ....... I was ecstatic until I realized how tough it was going to be to drag it back to the road .........

10 am is a minimum for me ....... if I' m dressed for the weather, I' ll try and stay out until closer to noon ...........

This year I got my doe at 8:40 am.

I was feeling pressured not having got a shot at a deer before the gun season - well, I did' t get much chance to hunt in the gun weeks, but patience paid off and I got a doe Sunday...

filled my doe tag on Sunday morning !

I finally connected Sunday morning with a second year doe ..... the day after shotgun season ended ..... now I have some tender meat and can keep trying to fill my other either-sex tag ..........

deer up my way concentrate on cedars for winter food source. I got a large doe in late December at the edge of a cedar swamp last year.

I enjoy venison very much, but at the same time get a thrill by a nice set of antlers ......... we have additional tags where I hunt, so that allows me to take a doe early if the chance presents...
