US Marines 2009

We’re counting down the days as we get ready for the 5th annual Marine Appreciation Day Deer Hunt. As some of you may recall, this hunt is our way of saying “Thanks!” to the young men that have put...

RE: getting ready for the ducks

It's just corn but the ducks seem to like it. Some years it takes them a couple of weeks to find it after I flood it, though last year the first ones were in 24 hours after I started pumping in the...

getting ready for the ducks

Almost as much fun as a good morning's duck hunt is the process of getting things ready for the upcoming season. My pond seems to be coming along nicely at the moment. Here's a pic from last week; I...

RE: I got two gobblers in one shot!

Just curious: Did you get the two in one shot because your pattern was too big or did you just not see the other bird behind the one you were trying to kill? Don't take this as being critial, but I...

RE: Ultimate turkey gun, what's yours?

Just curious... What's the appeal of a scope on a shotgun? Your shots are going to be at short range where iron sites are more than sufficient, and you get the nice pattern from a shotgun without the...

RE: "Fred" comes through again

Thanks, sour01. He had a 9 5/8" beard and 1" spurs. This is my first year using a full strut decoy and yesterday's attack was a hunt I'll never forget. Have you had one blitz your decoy like that?

RE: How many different seasons does your state have?

That's right. They eliminated tags 3-4 years ago. Not enough deer are being killed anyway so I think it's their way of looking the other way and letting hunters do what they want, especially on does.
