The reason why is that whether you reload or not you can get some decent ammo cheap enough to practice with in the off-season. Practice = better...

I' ve never shot one myself but I' ve seen a few at the range. Seemed to function ok for their owners in .308 and 7.62x39.
Accuracy seemed decent the only draw back is that crude rear sight.

If you want a cheap knock around one get a EAA Saiga in .308. Or, spend the money and get a Springfield Armory M1-A.

Finally got one of those new fangled .17HMR' s. Found one used at a local shop and thought what the heck. The stock fits me better than most of the others and I' m partial to laminated wood...

I don' t think Burris is what they used to be.
I had a 4-12x of theirs that was great but the 3-9x I got now went back to them once already and I' ve not been happy with the eye relief on it...

I have 2 of these mags and have no trouble with them at all in a regular AR-15.

What might be the case though if the notch for the mag catch is too low on the mag it may cause it to ride higher...

Yep, they make a .17HMR " Mini-Master" . Though listed as a 4" barrel. Good gosh that would be a handy little varmint rig. I got to buy one myself.:)

Think they could be NAA??? They make some sort of longer barreled " trail gun" based on their mini revolvers; and those are available as .22 mags. I gotta check their website and see.[&:]

The ATF has a goofy formula for figuring what is and isn' t an importable handgun. It goes by size dimensions, weight and certain features. Ever notice how many imported concealable sized handguns...

I can' t honestly remember but I think the .300 was up close to a grand and the .30' 06 was maybe around $800 but I could be way off on that. Maybe less than what I just qouted.
