Some rechargeable batteries don' t put out as much voltage as alkaline batteries. This could effect how the camera operates. I' d check with the manufacturer or in your owners...

Have you tried doing a honey burn? This can bring the bears in earlier. Another option is to take you bait with you when you leave at night, just leave behind a few scraps.
