year. It,s the most accurate rifle I own. Got a 5X5 Elk with it in Wyoming
this fall. Used hand loaded 140gr Accubonds.

I agree, go with the 270 Winchester. My Ruger 270WSM has quite a bit more
recoil than my Vanguard S2 in 270 winchester. You might even have to step down to
a 7mm08, for your wife.

Years ago it was my go to powder in my 30/06 with 150gr Hornady Boat tail.
I was getting right at 3000ft per sec. on my chronograph. Worked almost as
well with 165gr bullets.

I have both, and if I could only have it would be the 30/06. Like several others said the
recoil gets tiring after a while, if you shoot a lot. Also the 30/06 shells are a lot
cheaper.
