RE: Should deer hunting be only with shotguns?

RE: Any one know what Pa fish/game wardens make?

Best bet would be to contact the Pa Game and Fish Department and talk to someone in law enforcement. They should have a pay scale that they can get the starting rates from and also give you what...

RE: Elk Ivory

Ivories are all the same regardless of sex. The only difference is the size relative to age. A spike will have about the same size ivory, but the density of the enamel is less. As the animal ages,...

RE: hunting sidearm preference, Auto or revolver?

I like shooting autos, but for hunting, I would go with a revolver due to the bigger calibers available.

RE: Serious Ethics Question> want serious answers

RE: Fourwheelers and elk

If you are expecting to ride up on an elk, forget it. No way you could make it quiet enough. You are better off walking or sitting.

It's mostly a personal choice. No faults any hunter for taking a smal deer or a large deer as long as it is what you wanted.
Since you are just starting out, I would say it would be smart to take...

RE: 54Cal or 50Cal for Elk

Either will do the job with good shot placement. If you can shoot good with the 54, go with it. But if it is too much punch, go with the 50. A well placed 50 shot is better than a poorly placed...

Just take one. I get multiple tags to extend my hunting time and to increase the chance of getting a big one. Don't wan to end it in one hunt unless there are two monsters.
