With all due respect Sir, that's about like saying that Deer hunting over there is very different than it is on this side of the country. Either way, shot placement is key. A larger arrow weight...

I too would tend to agree with everyone else. People tend to make too big of a fuss over caliber vs. game taken. You can do just as good, if not better, with a smaller caliber and a well-placed shot...

Has anyone used one? I've been researching the Burris Eliminator, Bushnell Yardage Pro, Nikon Version or other Laser Rangefinder Scopes and would like to hear from someone who has used one or the...

In Alaska I can see exactly what you mean. We're only allowed to hunt here for about 6-weeks or so in the fall so that's what I base my pack on. Our season leads into the early part of winter so I...

I do. It doesn't cause any kind of obstruction on the barrel and it keeps all foreign particulates out of the muzzle while in the field. You can also use things that look like the finger of a latex...

I've gotta say, I'm surprised at your caliber of choice. There's another thread on here that talks about the ultimate Grizzly Bear caliber and some of the selections are .458 Lott, .375 H&H, 45-70...

Funny this thread should be started. I'm looking at the same rifle (sort-of) in .308 and am glad to see what I've read so far. I think I want the Venture Predator though. I like the full camo all...

What's in your hunting pack??

Okay, now I've been hunting for a few years (since I was 12) and my Dad helped me set up my first pack. After reaching adulthood I was able to customize the pack the way I wanted it a little more by...

Understood, but the PH knows about shot placement quite a bit too. I mean are we looking for a rifle that will knock down a bear with one shot in the big toe? If that's the case then the .50 Cal. BMG...

I'm just curious as to what everyone's afraid of?! Why such big calibers? I'd figure a good rifle for defense against a bear is whatever hunting rifle you have with you at the moment the bear decides...
