I would definitly consider the Barnes XBT, it holds together wonderfully. I shot my bull this year with a 120 gr XBT and i was stunned at how well it held together, it went straingt through both...

IMO the 30-30 wouldnt even go thru the shoulder of a buffalo, but if you are lucky enough to get to go on a buffalo hunt, in canada anyways there is a minimum caliber, and i dont think 30 makes it,...

look into a Remington ADL, in 223, good gun, inexpencive, cheap to shoot, all around winner. Also keep your eye out for a second hand one. there is plenty of relly good deals out there. hope it helps...
