I think the newer models had a faster rate of twist for shooting conicals. The older model was 1:48.

I've got an A-Bolt stalker in 7-08 that I've had for quite a while. I'm sure its 1:9 1/2. I have a Leupold 4-12 VII on it and it will group into a dime with Fed premium 140 gr ammo at 100 yds....

I seem to remember the Brenneke Rottweil slugs shot pretty good in my 870. They have cast markings on them that look like a turbine, I guess to make it spin. Does your slug gun have screw in chokes?...
