RE: Question hopefully everyone can help me with..

Here's my opinions as a guy who shops the internet alot. BTW I don't own any internet retail shops, and this post turned out to be alot longer than I had planned.

Things that keep me coming...

RE: Traditions Buckhunter ?

My rule of thumb on used guns is not to pay more than 2/3 of new value, and that’s if the gun is in excellent condition. For MLs check out the barrel really well, if there is any signs of rust or...

RE: could someone tell me if i messed up by buying this gun

About 6 yrs ago I bought a CVA Bobcat from Wally world for $75.00. It turned out to be a very expensive decision. You see the gun shot great, and I remembered why I liked hunting ( I had all but...

RE: wanting to get started in muzzleloading have ?

CVA guns are fine, but as you get into MLing you' ll will notice a difference in quality. I own a CVA and think its a great gun, but I also own MLs that cost 3 to 5 times as much as my CVA, and...

RE: Neophyte Question About Powder

ML are like any other gun, they all seem to like some loads better than others. Go to the range and experiment with different powder/bullet combos until you find on. I agree with the previous post,...

RE: BLACKPOWDER HELP!!!!

For the price you listed any ML in that range would be a great gun. Any of hte Knights and TCs would be a great choice.

I really prefer the traditional route, so my experiance with in-lines is...

RE: Got a new muzzleloader, need some advice...

I have a Lyman Great Plain Hunter (Sidelock with no. 11 caps). I shoot 777 and 3fg powder in it with no ignition problems at all. I use CCI no. 11 Mag caps. I haven' t spend enough time shooting...

RE: Best caliber?

First check the regualations, if your state allows a .45 for Elk, they will have a minimum on the projectile weight.

In general I would say a .50 or a .54 for elk, this isn' t to say a .45...

RE: bullet drop from 100 to 200 yds

200 yards is a very long shoot for any ML. If you are required to use open sights, its even longer.

If you zero you gun at 100 yards drops will be well over 10" for just about any...

RE: Type of Powder?

Right the " in" powder is Triple 7. Try in a 2fg cut and, if you have a load worked out reduce it by about 10 grains, simply becuase T7 is hotter than the other powders. T7 cleans up easy and...

RE: Counting the days

I finally had to take up fly fishing two years ago to help calm the bug while waiting for September to roll around.

I' ve got:
75 days

50 minutes
more or less - until the fishing...

RE: How long does blackpowder last?

I read the same thing JoeA, I' ve also read posts on forums, and heard from various sources (Read- rumors, and may not be fact) about old guns (150+ years old) that have been stored loaded for who...

RE: weighing blackpowder charge ?

I' ve never weighed my BP loads - I just go through the same steps, the same way each time a load and get accuracey that will work fine for hunting.

One note on weighing charges - Black powder...

RE: some questions....

I agree that the Lyman Great Plains flinters are a step above the 150 to 250 dollar guns, but they don' t come in 1:48 you get either 1:32(I think, it might even be faster) or a 1:60. Lyman does...

RE: Winchester APEX

My understanding of the Apex is that, instead of a bolt with a firing pin (much like a bolt action rifle), which most in-line ML, have, the Apex has a sort of hammer.

My experience is that the...

I pretty much agree with everything, however at the range I like to shoot 2 to 3 times between running a cleaning patch down the barrel. My reason of this is some guns will shoot a bit...

mauser06 you said something about a safety issue. Double set triggers are not a safety device. The front trigger will always fire your gun. My Hawkins sytle gun has a DST and I perfer them both...

My brother has a Traditions Traditional style Hawkins and has been happy with the quality. I don' t have personal experiance with their in-lines, but would expect them to be good guns.

RE: HELP: Savage smokeless?

Ok- first the Savage Smokeless ML gets a lot negative comments, and I guess I' m one of those that don' t like the idea of this gun. With the exception of the Savage gun muzzleloaders should NEVER...
