I would get a slug gun. My friend has killed probably more than 50 hogs with his smoothbore 20ga remington 870 deader than a doornail. I have no doubts that a 12ga would rock a bear.

.223 is a little light for hogs. It can be done with proper shot placement but I would recommend using another rifle if you have access to one. Use the biggest bullets available and aim for the brain.

Stingers suck...they are the cheapest broadheads at walmart. if you're going for that type of broadhead get thunderheads or muzzys or if you're feeling cheap i really like cabela's broadheads.
