"New" means it was only fired at the factory before being shipped out. Once you shot it, it is now USED. You can describe it "as new" or "like new", but it's not new.

Forget buckshot. It will work on a small hog, but I've seen too many hogs weighing over 100 lbs taking a load of buckshot, and didn't go down, didn't leave a blood trail, and were never found.

The 125 gr BT and PH should work just fine in your Contender. I use a 14" 7-30 Waters Contender with Hornady 120 gr SP, and it works well on deer, hogs, and coyotes. Good luck on your loads.
