Do you have access to a smoker? While it wont make the meat incredibly moist its the best way to keep it somewhat juicy IMO.

I prefer mossbergs because of the location of the safety. It couldnt be in a better spot for hunting. I have a mossberg 500 and dont have any complaints at all.

Ive never had a 243 so I cant comment but my dad gave me a Mossberg 500 when I was younger. Smooth bore 28" for bird hunting, squirrel hunting etc....and an easy swap to a rifled barrel for deer...

I dont think I could shoot that deer strictly on the fact id have to drag him out of the woods. It's a shame he eats junk food or he could use some of the nutrition to grow some nice horns lol.

Losing 5 out of 6 deer sounds like if hes not spining them and they drop then hes not looking at all. Even a deer shot through both lungs with a field point will die relatively quick.

I think you need to start sitting from 10-2 and hope he comes in one of the days your there. If you try and get too close to his bedding area you risk bumping him out of the area and never seeing him...
